Welcome 2011

Well it's the last day of 2010 and overall it's been a nice year.   Hanging out on Facebook today, I started to notice the new years resolutions pop up on status updates.  I thought back to the ones that I made last year; I wouldn't call them a success but not a complete fail either.  I have been thinking about any resolutions I might want to make this year and I have come up with a few.  So here is to 2011!!! May you all have a great year!!!

Christmas was here and gone.

All the presents that took hours to wrap and placed  under the tree, were tore open in record time. A strategic plan to make sure we visited  as much family as possilbe, was tiring but could never be denied. The decorations that filled the house are now carefully boxed away.  A holiday that seems like it takes months to prepare for, gone with just a blink of my eye.

The Polar Express

Last Sunday we enjoyed a family night that I will remember for a long time.  We took Brady on the Polar Express. This was not only his first time to the North Pole but his first time on a train.  He absolutely loved it!  From the hot cocoa and cookies, pajama parade to the Reindeer Pokie.  He is already talking about the next time!

The Dog Days of Summer

Yes, it August and the heat and humidity this week has been crazy.  I don't mind it all and actually welcome the dog days of summer, as not to soon we will be braving the cold air and yes even snow.  We are still keeping ourselves busy.  We spent a few days up a lake Erie. We took Brady on his first trip to Put-in-bay Island, which also included his first boat ride.  He said he loved the ferry ride and the golf cart that we drove around the island.  We spent the entire next day on the beach.  I love going to the beach just as the sun is setting, and have been able to capture some great photos.   We spent last Wednesday at the state fair and this past Wednesday at the county fair.  We filled up on fair fries, dippin dots and funnel cakes and Brady rode his share of rides.  I swear this kid has no fear when it comes to rides.  I have included one of my favorite pictures of Brady at the beach.

Catching up

Okay, where does the time go? I am sitting here relaxing while the boys are out in the pool and I can't believe it is almost the middle of July.  I can't believe how fast time is just flying by.  We are keeping busy and trying to make the most of  summer.   We have had some awesome weather and just recently had a week of 90 degrees and sun, which made for some great pool time.  I LOVE IT!!!   Our little tomato plant has 10 green tomatos on it and Brady and I are very eagerly awaiting for them to turn that ripe red color.   This past Saturday we took some time out and headed to lake Erie.  It is so fun to see how Brady enjoys the beach differently each year. Last year he liked the water but preferred to spend his time digging where the water meets the sand.  This year he still enjoys the cool wet sand but has a new love for the water.  The waves were gentle and just under a foot tall.  The smile on his face as he braved the waves and played in the sand was absolutely priceless.  We look forward to spending more time up there soon!

Update!

Wow, I can't believe it has been a month since my lost blog update. Well for the most part we haven't had a lot going on in the past month.  I have been consumed the last few weeks researching my family ancestry.  I first started genealogy when I was in Jr high school as a class project.  I remember completing the project but I don't remember enjoying it as much as I do now. Over the years I have occasionally spent some time on it but nothing like I have done lately. Thankfully my aunt Sue has been researching our family for years and has passed on some of her information to me. I love to read the family stories that she has compiled over the years.  I find it fascinating that I can  relate to someone that I never met and find similarity of characteristics that have been passed down each generation.  If you have never researched your family I encourage you to do so.  Please just don't hold me responsible for the sleepless nights that you will have because you just couldn't stop searching!

What's going on?!?!

Things have been pretty busy for us lately. In the last month we have celebrated my Grandfather's 90th birthday, Easter and will be celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary the end of this week.  With the warm weather we have had lately we have been spending alot more time outside. This is always a plus for us!!! As much as I love being busy and it has been a "good" busy, I do hope to slow done a bit.  Here is a picture of the little man on Easter!!

Spring has arrived!

Today was the offical first day of spring!  The weather the past two weeks was proof that it was on its way.  Brady and I have been enjoying every minute that we have been able to spend outside and even made a trip to the park for the first time this year.  Brady was super excited and ran to the playground. He claims the loop-d-loop slide as his favorite, but I think he equally enjoyed the slushie that I treated him to!

Snow, snow, snow.

Okay so I have to admit at the beginning of Winter I was a little excited to see it snow.  Especially after I saw how excited Brady was for it to snow.  Well now I can say that I am starting to get a little tired of it.  Tomorrow is March 1st and we still have 1.5' to 2' of snow on the ground and more in the forecast.  I actually heard earlier this week that our cities total so far this winter is something like 42".  Bring on Spring!!!!!

Good Times!

Today was a great day! Family headed to Columbus to spend time with my brother and sister-n-law (aka: Love of Brady's life).  We spent some time hanging out than headed off to one of our favorite restaurants in German Village. Schmidts Sausage Haus is awesome!!! The food is so delicious and who doesn't love a 1lb cream puff for dessert!  It was great to get out of the house today and actually out of Mansfield.

New Year

Okay so this blog has been pretty pathetic. In honor of a new year and inspiration of other friends, I am going to try my best to update this at least once a week. I don't want to call it a new years resolution, because that would pretty much do me in right there. LOL Speaking of new years resolutions I usually pick the same thing every year and like most around February I end up losing sight of that resolution. This year I have set a few resolutions some new and some old and I truly hope that I am able to keep up with them throughout the year. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
